The Family and Medical Leave Act (FLMA) entitles employees up to 12 weeks of unpaid job protection under any of the following circumstances:

  • The birth and care of a child
  • Placement of a child of either foster care or adoption
  • Caring for an immediate family member due to illness
  • Serious health condition
